Locating user exits in standard SAP systems

Our expert guides us through many approaches for finding user exits within standard SAP programs.

How can I find user exits in standard SAP programs?
With all the different types of user exits, there is no one single way. You can start with the user exit transactions themselves, and look for an appropriate user exit through CMOD, or SE18. Or, you can look at the source code and see if you can find calls to customer functions, or BADIs, or even forms that begin with "USEREXIT" or similar. The most common approach is through the IMG -- so it is often worth asking a functional expert what exits are available in his area.
