At Whirlpool we are currently working on a new project to bring our Mexican G/L into SAP 4.6c. The question has been asked if we could load the previous year's G/L balances in summary format by month. Are there any SAP tools that could be used for this purpose? If not, what is the best approach for accomplishing this task.
Your best bet is probably the special purpose ledger to hold the summarized balances. They can be input manually, and then as you go forward real data can be pulled into the special purpose ledger also. This will allow for meaningful comparisons as time passes. It's not terribly difficult to set up initially, but changes down the road can be painful so make sure your initial process includes obtaining mangement's input on the reporting they will want to see.
