Is there an implicit commit done after a BAPI is called?

Is there an implicit commit done after a BAPI is called (via SE37, RFC or Web Services)? As I understand it, in newer 4.0 BAPI coding standard, there is no COMMIT WORK call done in the function module of the BAPI. Can you tell me where I can find more information regarding this?

The COMMIT WORK is contained in some BAPIs, but not all. Not all new BAPIs follow the rule you mention. Check the documentation for information on whether a particular BAPI contains a COMMIT WORK. If the documentation does not tell, test the BAPI in SE37. If nothing is written to the DB upon successful execution of the BAPI then no COMMIT WORK has taken place and you need to do an external commit.
