Internet Pricing and Configurator

We are initiating a CRM project. I am trying to determine what the Internet Pricing and Configurator offers us beyond SAP standard pricing using the condition technique. We do not have make to order or configurable products. Would we still need the use of the IPC for Internet sales orders? Or should we just use the standard condition technique.
IPC is a mandatory component of E selling (Internet Sales).
