Importing cost element plan data into SAP 3.1

I want to import cost element plan data from a spreadsheet into SAP 3.1. What is the simplest way to do this?

There are software packages available off the shelf designed to automatically upload spreadsheet data into SAP. Some of the more sophisticated ones are written in Visual Basic, but the operation is similar to macros: Go down one cell, move right two cells, grab the value in that cell, switch to SAP, paste the value here, switch back to the spreadsheet and repeat the process.

These programs require discipline in the spreadsheets - the next number to be input should always be the same relative cell reference (for example, down one cell then right two cells). Otherwise, you'll have a tough time programming the upload software to handle the inconsistencies in spreadsheet locations.
