Importing an XML file into SAP

I am working on a project in which we need to import an XML file into SAP. The release is 4.6C so no standard features are available yet.

I have now searched for a solution for quite some time, but there do not seem to be any standard solution for parsing...

an XML document to an internal table.

There are some classes, but how to them is not obvious - all examples are for generating XML, not the other way arround.

Do you have any suggestions for importing XML to an internal table or do I have to compose my own parser?

Thanks in advance.

Two out of many different possible solutions: You could use the SAP Business Connector or write a Java component that you trigger from ABAP. This Java component could use standard XML libraries (e.g., Xerces).
