There are definite synergies with BW and ABAP. Having both skillsets make you much more marketable to most project initiatives, where you'd need two resources to satisfy implementation requirements for BW. For BW there are numerous resources available to you. SAP Academy courses, online documentation, journals, user guides and user forums are all ways to gather information. First, spend an evening Google-ing some BW buzzwords and read away!
