How to initialize the value within a session

I am coding in USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_VBAP of program MV45AFZZ, and my local variable gets initialized every time it comes in for next item. I need to keep retaining the last value generated from the previous item.

I am coding in USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_VBAP of program MV45AFZZ, and my local variable gets initialized every time it comes in for next item. I need to keep retaining the last value generated from the previous item. Do we have any global data where we can initialize the value and it gets refreshed only after the processing of all article variants is over? Or do I have to assign a number range?
Try using EXPORT TO MEMORY. This will allow you to set a value within a session, that won't get initialized. Alternatively, define the local variable as a static.
