The STMS configuration is totally independent from the transport history. You can reconfigure the transport domain without risking losing the transport history.

The transport history is constructed using the log files in the transport directory. If the system was renamed,...

there is no transport history to construct as the log files for the new SID do not exist. The transport history from the original system remains available.
