How does XI compare to other EAI middleware tools?

How does XI compare to other EAI middleware tools?

Why do we have to lean towards SAP XI when other middleware tools like Seebeyond and Mercator can do the job? What are advantages of SAP XI over other middlewares? Are there any specific features provided by SAP XI? What about the disadvantages?

Currently I consider eGate and especially Mercator to be far beyond XI. XI is still in its childhood, so if it is not for strategic or political reasons, I would not recommend replacing one of the mature EAI tools with XI.
