Heterogeneous vs. homogeneous system copy

Can you describe the difference between a heterogeneous and a homogeneous system copy?
The migration is considered homogeneous, if the copy of the system is installed on the same operating system and database platform as the original system. A system copy is a heterogeneous if during the copy, either the operating system or database is switched, or both.
