Function module TH_POPUP in SAPGUI 6.20

Function module TH_POPUP does not seem to work with SAP GUI version 6.20. Is there a particular component of the new GUI that needs to be loaded for this module to work as did in older GUI versions?

That's correct. You need to apply a patch to SAPGUI 6.20 to be able to get this to work properly again. SAP Note 528068 documents this problem. The following is the proposed solution:
* A patch is supplied in the service market place.
* The URL of the service market place is: http://service.sap.com/patches
* The patch can be found in the gui620 directory, patch = 12.
* Information on downloading and applying the patch can be found in note 96885.
