Fixing errors when implementing a user to SAP EDI system

I received the following error while implementing a new customer to our SAP EDI system:

Number range error -- LS017SNP -- is not within customer's number range. How do I sort out the number range on SPRO so I do not have to manually correct it each time?

SAP Transaction SNUM allows maintaining the number range. You need to define an "external number range" for the customer object so that your numbers fall into the collation sequence defined by the external number range.
