Extracting data from R/3 into SAP BW

Jay,

Do you have any strategic recommendations for extracting R/3 classification system data (characteristics) into BW?

The implemention uses material and batch characteristics heavily.

There are three different ways you can bring classification data to BW.

1. Use transaction SBIW and use maintain datasources for classification data to extend datasources.
2. Use function module CLAF_OBJECTS_OF_CLASS.
3. Write ABAP programs to read from the respective tables in R/3.
