Cost element authorizations (account posting) in SAP

Security abounds and controlling account posting is one of the checks and balances administrators can impose on users. Be careful though, the practice is highly discouraged.

I am trying to set up cost element authorizations (account posting) on SAP version 4.5b. Is this possible? I want to limit people from posting into the wrong accounts.
I discourage controlling account postings. There are more negative consequences than there are positive ones.

However, if you must, you can control posting to accounts (primary cost elements) in FI by assigning authorization...

groups to the account. There are posting options directly in CO (controlling) but they should be reserved for expert users. You can also use validation rules in CO to control certain kinds of postings.
