Consensus-based forecasting

I have a question about consensus-based forecasting, e.g. forecasters from different departments developing different forecasts, say Sales and Marketing. Let's say that I have created different data views for each department and that I have created unique forecast key figures for Sales and Marketing, where they can generate their own forecasts.

If the two departments, forecasting planners are trying to forecast the same material at the same time in version 000, although they are using different forecast key figures, would they lock each other out if they were trying to forecast the same product at the same time? (Data selection is locked by another user). If that's the case, is there a way in the system to avoid locking each other out?

I'm afraid there is no way to overcome the locking of the data. The lock takes place at the characteristic level, and because material is one of your characteristics then once one user has a material then all other users will be locked and taken to display mode. The only thing the users could do is look at the locked entries before trying to load a material. You do this within the planning book by selecting "Goto" on the menu bar and then "Lock Entries". The user could then make sure they select a material that the other user has not locked.
