Q

Cancel running work process

Occasionally we must cancel running work processes. However, SM50->Process->Cancel with/without core does not work. No active jobs can be seen running in SM37. We try killing the corresponding disp+work process (on Windows), but get access denied. The only way to stop such processes is to reboot SAP. Is there another way to kill running processes when 'Process->cancel' doesn't work?

If SM50 is not working for you, then go to the OS level and use one of these utilities:

KILL.exe, TASKKILL (for XP and Windows 2003), PSKILL.exe (from www.sysinternals.com).

You can kill the process remotely (right from your PC) if you use TASKKILL or PSKILL. Make sure you do this only in emergency cases, though. It's not the best way to stop a process in SAP.
