Q

Calculating salary grades in SAP HR

An SAP HR user wants to know if there a way to automatically calculate an allowance in SAP HR that is based on the basic salary of the next higher grade of one's salary.

Is there a way to automatically calculate an allowance which is based on the basic salary of the next higher grade of one's salary SAP HR?
For U.S. Payroll, I am not aware of an automatic way to calculate an allowance based on a salary grade not assigned. Default calculations or assignments based on the assigned salary grade is more SAP intuitive. For example, in Table T512W Valuation Basis of TS, TG or T, which reads table T510.

There may be a suitable work-around, depending on how much customization you care to make and the volume of employees

and/or the length of time this requirement is in place.

Alternative Payment, Table ALP, can be applied. This option is good if the number of employees impacted is small or infrequent or can be loaded, as with Fast Data Entry.

Develop a custom personnel calculation rule using operation RE510 to read table T510 from Basic Pay and TABLE to read other levels of table T510. This option requires more customization, and may be better suited for greater numbers in terms of headcount or frequency.
