ITS and Business Connector (BC) have totally different uses. ITS allows you to HTML-enable a SAPGUI transaction. BC supports communication between your SAP system and another system using BAPIs, other RFMs, or IDocs. The other system can be an SAP system or any other system. The data to be transferred is usually converted to XML and BC supports HTTP as the transport protocol, so you can connect systems across the Internet. And BC is free for SAP customers, if at least one of the two connected systems is an SAP system. As you can see there are some good reasons for people to be 'crazy' about BC.
