Q

Basic data warehousing terms defined

Basic data warehousing terms are defined by BW guru Jay Narayanan in this expert tip.

My goal is to be the lead for a full project life cycle for BW development. To get started, I'd like your advice. What are the logical data models, source data capture, dictionary design, data integrity and overall data warehouse designs?
Logical data model is the pictorial representation of the data entities, the attributes of the entities and the relationship between them. This gives a conceptual design of the database. Source data capture is the process of extracting data from various source systems including other SAP and non-SAP systems.

These terms are basic data warehousing terms -- so your best bet to get started is to refer to some basic books on data warehousing, which will give you a detailed description of all of these terms.
