BW vs. Unix and Windows

We have SAP BW on Win2000 and R/3 on Unix. Our CIO has asked us to look into shifting BW to Unix. What are the pros and cons? Please help me -- I have to provide feedback.

One reason to switch might be performance. If you're still running on 32 bit, you might consider migrating to a 64 bit operating system. Unix is no longer the only option, however. Windows is running perfectly on 64 bit Itanium. Hewlett Packard is selling the same hardware with either HP-Unix or Windows 64bit. I have a few customers who took the step to Windows 64 bit already and the performance improvement is astonishing.

Another reason to switch might be a consolidation on a certain operating system or a database in order to reduce...

operating costs. I assume that it is a difficult argument to challenge.
