I'm currently practicing BW and have implemented two sites. I am thinking of switching focus to ABAP or more functional areas. Which is more strategic?

BW is more strategic. Stay with what you're focused on. The SAP market favors concentrated experience over those who jump from one area to another. And maybe you can also get into SEM, which would give your BW skills even more teeth and give you more functional challenges also.
