Congratulations on making the move to project management. Your experience as a team member will have given you valuable insight in to what is involved in project management. You might want to take some formal training in project management, such as those offered through the PMI. In addition, there are numerous books and websites on the topic. You will want to make sure you have a solid understanding of the scheduling tool that you will be using and the methodology to be followed. You may want to ask someone who has already worked in project management to mentor you during your first assignment. Get ready for lots of activity!
