Adding fields after replicating info from R/3 to EBP

Is it possible to bring in more fields than the ones provided when replicating vendor information from an R/3 backend to EBP? We would like, at the very least, to also bring in the Federal Tax ID field from R/3 to our EBP system.

It is always possible to do anything in SAP, it just depends on the amount of development effort you'd like to put in. Unfortunately, the standard mechanism for replication of vendors in EBP is not configurable, and therefore any changes to the standard mechanism requires development effort and customization, which of course is not supported by SAP. Anyways, Here are two options:

1. The standard mechanism to replicate is a set of BAPI's & Function modules that contain information for the export and import tables limiting the fields that are pulled from R/3 as part of the replication process. You'll need to modify the Func.modules to pull the additional fields and then also modify the tables to store the additional information. Unless you can utilize an existing "alternate" field within the Vendor Master structure in EBP and hold the Fed. Tax ID there. This limits the extent of your modification. Obviously the issue here would be future support as you're modifying a core EBP mechanism.

2. What I'd explore is the following: First, replicate your Vendor master from R/3 into EBP. Now write a simple extract program in R/3 that would pull the Vendor # & Fed. Tax ID # into a flat file. Then upload that flat file into EBP using a similar program to update the Vendor Master tables in EBP with the additional Tax ID information. Here I'm suggesting the use of an existing field in the vendor master within EBP, which you don't use currently. This provides you a simple solution without changing the standard programs. And provides you the ongoing support as well. Hope this helps.
