ALE customizing transport "cannot add to buffer"

I need some guidance on the best practices for implementing the EDI inbound 820 into SAP. I am having a hard time finding some good solid documentation. I have read OSS note 513071 and know how to set up the REMADV IDoc. However, I'm not sure what to do after the REMADV IDoc is created. Do I run an application interface program? In addition to that, I have the customer remittance information from them, how do I marry up the remittance with the check they sent to our lockbox via the EDI 823 that has check information only?

Well, SAP does not create any EDIFACT/UN, ANSI/X... or similar standards on its own. You need to pass on the IDoc to a converter that does the job for you. To some extend the SAP Business Connector with the EDI library may help, but there is also a myriad of EDI converters for SAP on the market.

The incoming REMADV documents are usually processed via function IDOC_INPUT_REMADV_CTR or IDOC_INPUT_REMADV . If they do not find sufficient information within the IDoc, you would have to manipulate this function in order to enrich the data segments. I suggest to create a new wrapper function that in turn calls the standard processing function after enriching the data segments.
