32 bit or 64 bit for R/3 Enterprise?

We are looking at R/3 Enterprise and understand that it's underlying platform runs on 64 bit technology, our current server/op system/db environment is 32 bit, does this mean we will have to upgrade our hardware and environment to 64 bit?

Correct. Unfortunately you are not able to use R/3 Enterprise on 32bit, but you can upgrade to 64bit Kernel with the relevant SAP Note for your hardware or by contacting your Partner. Ralf Strassner is international roll-out manager. Consider R/3 Enterprise as the next R/3, i.e.. R/3 4.7.
